Ice Cream for Israel!
On the night of the 24th of January, multiple Jewish-owned stores were vandalized in a shopping center in New Rochelle, NY. The shopping center itself is Jewish-owned and many of the shops within the center are Jewish-owned, kosher, or both. Police are still looking for the vandal who painted “Genocide Supporter” on the windows of many businesses in the center. Gov. Kathy Hochul expressed her empathy for the community saying that, “the community is traumatized” and it tears you as a human being when you know that attack-full message, that hateful message, is meant for you.” Additionally, residents in the area did not hesitate to take action. They organized an ice cream meetup the next day at one of the vandalized shops to show their support. There was a huge crowd gathered the next day to show that this hate is not welcome in their community and that they will come together and support Israel and members of their community.
